Preparing For The GAN APTITUDE Test

Gan aptitude test - what you need to know

After submitting your application and completing the Personal Experience Form (PEF), you will be scheduled to take the GAN Aptitude Test.

WHAT IS THE GAN APTITUDE TEST?

The test will be administered electronically on computers supplied by the apprenticeship program. The GAN Aptitude Test is designed to measure the skills and abilities that are essential for success in the electrical trade. Unlike the previous test, this is not pass/fail—your score will help determine your ranking on the eligibility list.

The test evaluates:

Math Skills – Numerical computation and reasoning
Reading Skills – Reading comprehension
Spatial Skills – Visualizing and manipulating shapes
Mechanical Reasoning – Understanding physical and mechanical principles

The GAN Aptitude Battery Test consists of five sections:

Numerical Computation – Basic arithmetic (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
Numerical Reasoning – Logical thinking and pattern recognition.
Paper Folding – Tests spatial visualization skills.
Reading Comprehension – Understanding and interpreting written material.
Mechanical Reasoning – Knowledge of physical and mechanical principles.

important test rules

Bring a valid photo ID. Your ID will be checked before the test.
Your GAN login credentials (User ID and Password)
Arrive 15 minutes early. Late arrivals cannot be admitted.
No calculators allowed.
No electronic devices will be allowed during testing. This includes cell phones, smart watches, smart glasses, earbuds or other wearable technology. You may use your phone to obtain your GAN login credentials.
The computer, mouse, pencils and scrap paper will be provided.
If you cannot attend your scheduled test date, contact us immediately to reschedule

How your score is used

Your score will help determine your score on the ranked list.
Rankings remain valid for one year from the date you received your ranked score.
